In the 21st century Europe as it has become essential to differentiate and modernize the study process in all stages of education making it more conveniently accessible to every individual. Distance education, distance learning, d-learning is a mode of delivering education and instruction, often on an individual basis, to students who are not physically present in a traditional setting such as a classroom. This mode of studying develops in tandem with the constant technological advancements. Distance learning also enables students who due to disability, illness or personal reasons are unable to attend traditional classes to master the chosen study programme. Distance education may provide equal access regardless of socioeconomic status or income, area of residence, gender, race, age, or cost.
The online education is a recent learning frame started at the 90’ies, but it is still in a rudimentary phase in most European countries after 20 years. On-line learning is in 50% cost-efficient and it could be done anywhere and at anytime, all learners need is a computer and the Internet.
In adult education the situation is not easy anyway as adults' way of learning is different - one part of the adult learners prefer individual learning, while the other part needs help in order to define their learning mode. Another part of adult learners are not even able to use different tools of digital and on-line training. The Current project provides solution for both segments – to enable elder generation to use ITC devices and take advantage of the on-line platforms in everyday life. The project provides solution for those who need to define in which field they need to improve their competences, knowledge and skills.
A great advantage of on line education is that web based trainings are available and accessible also for disabled and socially disadvantaged people.
The results of analysis carried out in the participating organizations showed that the number of students either decreases by 5 - 15 % every year due to the immigration of participants Or just opposite – it has increased in some organizations because of emigration of participants. Many of the migrants find it difficult to attend adult education courses due to financial reasons or workload. Therefore working out a new modern digital education course programmes could stop this negative tendency.
The aim of the project is:
* to work out 7 digital courses
* to promote adult education all over the territory of the participating municipality, including remote areas
* to modernize adult education by introducing digital learning
* provide enough support to different layers of society.
The project will be carried out internationally because it is important to take into account the multicultural aspect of adult learning in the 21st century. The created materials will be discussed in an international team to lessen multicultural problems. Another benefit of working internationally is that lecturers will get to know the peculiarities of other cultures and ways of handling problems in adult education. The joint work in an international team will enlarge participants' knowledge of the European Union, improve language skills (English as the common project language), develop a deeper awareness of intercultural differences and similarities (intercultural competence), promote processes of collaboration among students, improve relationships between students, teachers and staff and therefore improve the social climate in the adult centers.
